Mentoring | |||||||

Dear Members,
As some of you heard at the recent Hays event, I am trying to put together a mentoring scheme, whereby members of the TSG would 'adopt' Anglia Ruskin LPC students for the purpose of being an open ear, a sounding-board for applications if necessary and an invaluable link withjunior member of a local law firm. SummaryPlease send me an email if you are willing to take part before, saying who you are, where you work and how old you are.BackgroundOriginally, My firm (Mills & Reeve) was approached with a view to coordinating the project, but it was (rightly) felt that this would lead to false expectations that the firm would 'owe' the mentee a placement or a job, and that the relationship would be somewhat one-sided. So it is going to be administered by the CTSG, in conjunction with Anglia Ruskin.Links with CTSGI am also planning to offer student members of the scheme a degree of discount from the non-member's rate at events to encourage them to get to know us as a group rather than just as individuals - details will be confirmed on an event by event basis, and where mentees are invited, their mentor would invite themRole of MentorEssentially, you can both make as much or as little of the relationship as you like. I would expect that it would extend to quiet pint from time to time, looking through application forms, giving an insight into life as a trainee, and if appropriate introducing them to people who might be able to give them a job. The last one is by no means obligatory.How to get started:
