FLAG (Free Legal Advice Clinic)

FLAG (Free Legal Advice Clinic) is a pro bono advice clinic managed by Mills & Reeve LLP which includes and invites advisers from most large firms in the Cambridge region. FLAG members advise on a range of matters including employment, litigation, property and family matters. Sessions are held twice a month at the Cambridge Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) and offer one-off free advice to clients who have been referred to us by the CAB.

So what can you do as a trainee? FLAG sessions are organised by trainee co-ordinators. We liaise with the CAB to arrange appropriate advisers for referred clients and attend FLAG nights at the CAB to ensure appointments run smoothly. It's a great way to get involved with pro bono work from the beginning of your career and if you're lucky (though obviously it's at the discretion of the advisers) you might be able to sit in on appointments to gain that little bit more extra-curricular experience.
